In 1996, nestled in the heart of Gravesend High Street, Sharon—our mum and the founder—opened the doors to a space filled with magic and energy and curiosity. Long before that, she had already been part of the spiritual community, offering guidance and heart to those who crossed her path. Creating Serendipity was more than starting a business—it was sharing a calling.

From the beginning, it was a true family affair. Emma and Sarah started behind the counter as sales assistants, Lucy was the resident crystal cleaner (taking her job very seriously!), and Sharon poured every ounce of her energy into building something real, something magical.

As the shop grew, so did her dreams. We moved to Bluewater Shopping Centre, stepping into a world of retail on a much bigger scale. It was a whirlwind—Christmases spent working around the clock, mountains of fairies, dragons, crystal and books arriving daily, and Sharon leading it all with tireless dedication in an industry that’s anything but easy.

Through it all, Serendipity became more than just a place to buy gifts—it became a sanctuary. We welcomed generations of real-life fairies, curious newcomers, devoted regulars, respected authors, and seekers of all kinds. We hosted tarot readings, crystal workshops, energy sessions, and even shared our space with a ghost named George. (Yes, really.)

Later, we moved once more to the Sevenoaks High Street, and Serendipity continued to shine. It was more than a shop at this point—it was part of people’s lives, a trusted name, and a space where many found comfort, inspiration, and sometimes, exactly what they didn’t know they needed.

Eventually, the physical doors closed—but Serendipity never truly ended. It stayed with us, woven into our childhood memories and the many lives we touched along the way.

Now, we’re stepping forward with that same love, intention, and spirit to create something new—something that still carries the heart of the original Serendipity. A smaller space, maybe—but no less meaningful. A continuation of a story that’s always been about connection, healing, and a little bit of magic.
